a way of protection. In this case the pigeon deterrent spikes fulfill their
protective role on the canvas. Hereby, I reflect on the protection and
the function of the artworks.
MEMORY
My installation was made for the memorial exhibition of Béla Bartók.
It represents the anniversary of birth and death with simple material
elements. The flute symbolizes Bartók's folk collections. The equally
burnt candles grow out from the holes of the dysfunctional instrument.
The flute can be sounded by blowing in, the candle can be extinguished
by blowing out. These opposites become one under an airless, closed glass.
